The No. 45 Denver Pioneers women's tennis team (8-2, 0-0) is set for a pair of road matches in Houston, Texas this weekend, matching up against No. 47 Rice (6-4, 0-0) on Friday, March 1 and Minnesota (5-5, 0-1) on Saturday, March 2.
The weekend will feature a showdown between Pioneers head coach
Christian Bass and her twin sister, Minnesota head coach Catrina Thompson. Bass was a three-time doubles All-American with Catrina from 2005-07 at Notre Dame. The duo were the top-ranked doubles tandem in 2005 and 2006.
Denver split last weekend in Orlando, Fla. with a 5-2 win against Georgia State and a 5-2 loss to No. 30 Central Florida. The Pioneers are led by No. 91
Bianca Mok and No. 114
Arisha Ladhani. Through 10 matches, Mok is 5-1 at No. 1 and Ladhani is 1-0 at No. 1 and 4-2 at No. 2. Sophomores
Anna Riedmiller and
Camille Verden-Anderson have complimented the efforts of the senior co-captains as Riedmiller is 7-0 at No. 3 and Verden-Anderson is 6-0 at No. 6. In doubles play, Mok and Verden-Anderson have teamed up to boast a 7-1 ledger at No. 1, while Riedmiller and freshman
Tatum Burger are 7-3 at No. 2.
First serve is set for 1 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.Â
