Denver Prepares to Face Maryland in NCAA Quarterfinals

DENVER – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team will face the No. 1 seed Maryland in the program's first-ever NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, May 18 at 5 p.m. MT. The Pioneers are 16-3 on the season, having defeated USC 11-10 in overtime on May 10 and No. 8 Michigan 9-5 on May 12.
 
The Terrapins are 19-1 this season, having taken down Stony Brook 17-8 in the Second Round of the Tournament. Their solo loss comes from Northwestern (16-11) in the Big Ten Tournament Championship on May 5.
 
The Pioneers sit at No. 1 in the nation for scoring defense (6.97) and No. 2 for assists per game (8.63). Sophomore Quintin Hoch-Bullen tops the leader board with 57 goals, 113 shots and 69 points on the year, leading the Crimson and Gold with five goals and 11 shots against the Wolverines to advance to the quarterfinals. Carson Gregg ranks No. 2 in the NCAA with 7.22 goals-against average, totaling 930 minutes in net and 97 saves.
 
Maryland checks in at No. 1 in the nation for clearing percentage (0.947) and saves percentage (0.568). Jen Giles and Erica Evans lead the team with 53 goals apiece this season, and Giles leads with 75 points on the year. Megan Taylor has started in all 20 games for the Terrapins, totaling 1,079 minutes in goal, 185 saves and a .559 save percentage.
 
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the NCAA Semifinals, held at Johns Hopkins University on May 24. They will play the winner of the Northwestern vs. Syracuse matchup.
