[10/11] Pioneers Set To Take On Vanderbilt Sunday

DENVER – The [10/11] University of Denver women's lacrosse team looks to remain unbeaten as they head to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt on Sunday (12 PM MT).

SCOUTING VANDERBILT
  • Vanderbilt enters Sunday with a 3-2 record following a 13-15 loss to Louisville on Tuesday
  • The Commodores are led by Brianna Gross who has a team-high 14 goals and a shot on goal percentage of .917. Gross also has a team-high 18 draw controls
  • Defensively Melissa Hawkins leads the Commodores with 11 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Paige Gunning has recorded 37 saves through five games with a save percentage of .370
  • Vanderbilt was picked to finish third in the AAC preseason poll after finishing the 2019 season with a 10-6 overall record
PIONEERS IN THE POLLS                                     
  • After being ranked No. 9 following their season opener on Feb. 8th, the Pioneers dropped to No. 11 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll following their victory at Louisville and have stayed put after their 4-0 start
  • Denver remains at No. 10 in the IWLCA coaches poll
  • DU was tabbed for a first-place finish in the BIG EAST following a vote of its six head coaches
FIRST HALF TEAM
  • Denver has scored 40 of its 68 goals in the first half
  • Bea Behrins and Eliza Radchonski have each put up giant first-half performances. Radochonski scored four goals in the opening 30 minutes against Oregon, while Bea Behrins scored four of her six goals against Louisville in the first half
  • The Pioneers had their best first half showing of the season, scoring 15 goals in the opening 30 minutes of play against Oregon
FRESHMEN STANDOUTS                          
  • Ellie Curry and Julia Gilbert scored their first collegiate goals in Denver's win over Stanford on Feb. 8th, while Sarah McLean netted her first in Denver's win over Oregon on Feb. 21st
  • Ellie Curry ranks fourth on the team in goals (6) while Julia Gilbert ranks fifth (5)
  • Gilbert scored her first career hat trick in DU's win over Harvard on Feb. 23rd
  • Sam Thacker ranks first on the team in caused turnovers (8) and second in ground balls (9)
TRICKS ON TRICKS
  • Five Pioneers have recorded at least one hat trick so far this season (Hannah Liddy, Quintin Hoch-Bullen, Bea Behrins, Eliza Radochonski and Julia Gilbert)
  • Quintin Hoch-Bullen leads Denver, locking in a hat trick in three of the Pioneers last four games (Stanford, Louisville, Harvard)
  • Bea Behrins led the Pios with six goals in Denver's victory at Louisville on Feb. 15th, recording the first sock trick of the season and the first of her career. She added her second hat trick of the season against Oregon on Feb. 21st
  • Eliza Radochosnki has recorded two-straight hat tricks, scoring four goals against Oregon on Feb. 21st and five against Harvard on Feb. 23rd
 
ASSIST QUEEN
  • Hannah Liddy leads the Pioneers in assists with 16 on the season, six of those coming in a season- high performance at Louisville on Feb. 15th
  • Hannah Liddy and Bea Behrins have linked up for six goals in four games, three of those coming at Louisville on Feb. 15th
  • With the addition of six goals, Hannah Liddy has a team-high 22 points through four games
FOUR-STRAIGHT
  • The Pioneers have gone four-straight games with at least six different goal scorers
  • Denver has caused double-digit turnovers in all four games
  • The Pioneers offense has scored three or more free position goals in the opening four games

  • Bea Behrins recorded a career-high six goals on Feb. 15th as part of her first career hat trick
  • Kailee Lammers recorded a career-high and team-high five ground balls at Louisville on Feb. 15th
  • Quintin Hoch-Bullen notched a career-high 4 assists against the Ducks on Feb. 21st
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
  • The Pioneers have notched three-straight BIG EAST Players of the Week
  • Following her five-goal performance on Feb. 8th against Stanford, Quintin Hoch-Bullen earned her second career BIG EAST Attacker of the Week nod
  • Molly Little was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career following her two ground ball and four draw control performance at Louisville
  • Eliza Radochonski led the BIG EAST in points (12) last week following Pioneer wins over Oregon and Harvard earning her the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week honors

  • Carson Gregg is just 9 saves out from reaching 300 career saves and 21 away from 100 career ground balls
  • Eliza Radochonski is 24 goals away from reaching 100 career goals

 HISTORY
  • The Pioneers and Commodores have met eight times in the programs' history. Denver leads the series 5-3
  • The last meeting between the two teams came on April 28th, 2018. The Pioneers defeated Vanderbilt 11-10 in Nashville
