DENVER- The [10/10] University of Denver women's lacrosse team will open their 2020 campaign against [20/RV] Stanford at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday (1 PM MT).
Scouting Stanford:
- Stanford finished their 2019 campaign with a 13-6 record and 7-3 standing in the Pac-12, falling in the Pac-12 championship game to then No. 22, Colorado
- The Cardinal fell in the first round of the 2019 NCAA tournament to Notre Dame 15-9
- Stanford will return 27 players after losing just two seniors from their 2019 squad, while adding nine freshmen to their roster
- Junior attack Ali Baiocco will return for the Cardinal after receiving All-Pac-12, All-Region and All-American honors following her 2019
- Stanford finished the 2019 season ranked ninth in the nation in draw control percentage (.594)
- The Cardinal last faced Denver in its second game of the 2019 season, falling 8-7 on their home turf

- The Pioneers will look to build on their record breaking 2019 season after reaching their first ever NCAA quarterfinal in program history
- The Pioneers fell to the eventual National Champion, Maryland Terrapins 17-8 to end their season
- Denver placed five on the West/Midwest All-Region team, the most in program history
- The Pioneers lost 10 seniors, including All-America selection and BIG EAST Defender of the Year, Kate Fischer

- Little and Hoch-Bullen were both named to the Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America list for the first time in their careers
- Hoch-Bullen was named BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while Little, Gregg, Liddy and Radochonski all received Preseason BIG EAST All-Conference honors

- The Pioneers are a combined 20-4 at home the past two seasons seeing a significant advantage on their home turf
Pioneers in the Preseason Polls:
- The Pioneers were picked 13th in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll, 9th in the Faceoff Yearbook top-20 and 10th in both the IWLCA Preseason Coaches Poll and media poll
- Denver was tabbed for a first-place finish in the BIG EAST following a vote of its six head coaches

- The Pioneers finished the 2019 season ranked second in the nation in assists per game (8.35) and second in scoring defense (7.3).
