DENVER – The [16/20] University of Denver women's lacrosse team is set for its third straight home contest against Coastal Carolina on Wednesday at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium (1 PM MT).
SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
- Coastal Carolina enters Wednesday holding a 2-2 record, dropping its last two games to Temple and No. 24 Colorado
- The Chants offense is powered by Samantha Courtemanche (16 points) and Lyla Robinson (12 points). Courtemanche has a team-high eight goals
- Defensively, Megan Kilpatrick and Emily D'Orsaneo have each caused a team-high five turnovers, while D'Orsaneo has a team-best 10 ground balls
- Spending all 240 minutes in goal for the Chants is Regan McComb who has recorded 38 saves and a save percentage of .422
PIONEERS IN THE POLLS
- After previously being ranked No. 17 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, the Pioneers fell three spots to No.20 following victories over Fresno State on March 4th and Fairfield on March 8th.
- Denver fell two spots to No. 16 in the IWLCA Coaches poll
- DU was tabbed for a first-place finish in the BIG EAST following a vote of its six head coaches
HOME IS WHERE THE W'S ARE
- The Pioneers are a combined 24-4 at home the past two seasons and 5-0 in their 2020 campaign
THE JUNIOR SHOW
- Seven members of the junior class have combined to score 80% of the Pioneers goals this season (98), 83% of the assists (46) and 82% of the points (147)
FRESHMEN STANDOUTS
- Ellie Curry and Julia Gilbert scored their first collegiate goals in Denver's win over Stanford on Feb. 8th, while Sarah McLean netted her first in Denver's win over Oregon on Feb. 21st
- Curry ranks sixth on the team in goals (8) and matched her season high of three points against Fresno State on March 4th
- Gilbert scored her first career hat trick in DU's win over Harvard on Feb. 23rd
- Sam Thacker ranks second on the team in caused turnovers (11) and second in ground balls (14) after recording a career high of five against Vanderbilt on March 1st
FIRST HALF TEAM
- Denver has scored 69 of its 122 goals (57%) in the first half
- Bea Behrins and Eliza Radchonski have each put up giant first-half performances. Radochonski scored four goals in the opening 30 minutes against Oregon on Feb. 21st, while Behrins scored four of her six goals against Louisville on Feb. 15th in the first half
- DU had its best first-half showing of the season against Oregon on Feb. 21st, scoring 15 goals in the opening 30 minutes of play
- The Pios had seven different goal scorers in the first half of its 21-11 victory over Fairfield
TRICKS ON TRICKS
- Seven Pioneers have recorded at least one hat trick so far this season (Hannah Liddy, Caroline Wiseman, Sammie Morton, Quintin Hoch-Bullen, Eliza Radochonski, Behrins and Gilbert)
- Hoch-Bullen leads Denver, locking in a hat trick in six of the Pioneers last seven games (Stanford, Louisville, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Fresno State, Fairfield)
- Behrins led the Pios with six goals in Denver's victory at Louisville on Feb. 15th, recording the first sock trick of the season and the first of her career
- Hoch-Bullen scored seven goals en route to her first-career sock trick in the Pioneers' loss at Vanderbilt on Mar. 1st and has notched a hat-trick in five consecutive games
- Wiseman recorded her first career sock trick in the Pioneers victory over Fairfield on March 8th. Wiseman was a perfect 4-4 in free position attempts
- Morton earned her second career hat trick in DU's win over Fairfield on March 8th
SEVEN-STRAIGHT
- The Pioneers have gone seven-straight games with at least six different goal scorers
- Denver has had at least one player record a hat trick in all seven contests
- The Pioneers offense has scored two or more free position goals in the opening seven games
- Denver has recorded 28+ shots in seven-straight games, posting its most recent season high against Fresno State (49)
- Hoch-Bullen is the only Pioneer to score at least one goal in all seven games
- Molly Little and Laura Milleker are the only Pios to record at least one draw control in all seven games, Little has tallied at least four in the past six games
GREGG IN GOAL
- Carson Gregg has spent 371 minutes in goal for the Pioneers, recording 46 saves and a save percentage of .460
- Gregg recorded her 300th career save in the Pioneers win over Fresno State on March 4th
NATIONAL RANKINGS
- The Pioneer offense ranks third in the nation in shots per game (37.71)
- The Denver defense ranks fifth in the country in caused turnovers per game (12.29)
HISTORY
- This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs
