DENVER – Coming off a victory over Fresno State on Wednesday, the University of Denver women's lacrosse team is set to host their second-straight home game against Fairfield on Sunday at Peter Barton Lacrosse stadium (1 PM MT).
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
- The Stags enter Sunday's matchup holding a 2-4 record, coming off a 15-9 win over New Hampshire on March 1st
- The Fairfield offense is powered by Kelly Horning who leads the team with 16 goals, while Diana DeVita leads the Stags with ten assists
- Horning leads the Stags defensively with 14 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls
- Olivia Conquest has spent the majority of the season in goal for Fairfield totaling 73 saves for a .500 save percentage
- The Stags average 28.7 shots per game, while allowing their opponents an average of 31.2 shots per game
PIONEERS IN THE POLLS
- After being previously ranked at No.11 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, the Pioneers dropped to No.17 following their loss at Vanderbilt on March 1st
- Denver fell four spots to No.14 in the IWLCA coaches poll after maintaining their No.10 spot through the opening four games of the season
- DU was tabbed for a first-place finish in the BIG EAST following a vote of its six head coaches
HOME IS WHERE THE W'S ARE
- The Pioneers are a combined 23-4 at home the past two seasons and 4-0 in their 2020 campaign
FIRST HALF TEAM
- Denver has scored 59 of their 101 goals (58%) in the first half
- Bea Behrins and Eliza Radchonski have each put up giant first-half performances. Radochonski scored four goals in the opening 30 minutes against Oregon on Feb. 21st, while Bea Behrins scored four of her six goals against Louisville on Feb. 15th in the first half
- Quintin Hoch-Bullen has earned a hat-trick in the first 30 minutes of play in two consecutive games (at Vanderbilt on March 1st and vs. Fresno State on March 4th)
- The Pioneers had their best first half showing of the season, scoring 15 goals in the opening 30 minutes of play against Oregon on Feb. 21st
FRESHMEN STANDOUTS
- Ellie Curry and Julia Gilbert scored their first collegiate goals in Denver's win over Stanford on Feb. 8th, while Sarah McLean netted her first in Denver's win over Oregon on Feb. 21st
- Curry ranks fifth on the team in goals (5) and had a career-high performance against Fresno State scoring three points off two goals and one assist
- Gilbert scored her first career hat trick in DU's win over Harvard on Feb. 23rd
- Sam Thacker ranks first on the team in caused turnovers (10) and first in ground balls (14) after recording a career-high of five against Vanderbilt on March 1st
TRICKS ON TRICKS
- Five Pioneers have recorded at least one hat trick so far this season (Hannah Liddy, Hoch-Bullen, Behrins, Radochonski and Gilbert)
- Hoch-Bullen leads Denver, locking in a hat trick in five of the Pioneers last six games (Stanford, Louisville, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Fresno State)
- Behrins led the Pios with six goals in Denver's victory at Louisville on Feb. 15th, recording the first sock trick of the season and the first of her career. She added her second hat trick of the season against Oregon on Feb. 21st
- Hoch-Bullen scored seven goals en route to her first-career sock trick in the Pioneers loss at Vanderbilt on Mar. 1st
- Hoch-Bullen has notched a hat-trick in three consecutive games
SIX-STRAIGHT
- The Pioneers have gone six-straight games with at least six different goal scorers
- The Pioneers offense has scored two or more free position goals in the opening six games
- Denver has recorded 28+ shots in five-straight games, posting its most recent season-high against Fresno State (49)
- Hoch-Bullen is the only Pioneer to score at least one goal in all six games
CAREER HIGHS
- Eliza Hacke recorded a career-high four caused turnovers on Feb. 8th vs Stanford
- Caroline Wiseman snatched three career highs on Feb. 8th vs. Stanford, recording four points stemming from two goals and two assists
- Behrins recorded a career-high six goals on Feb. 15th as part of her first career hat trick and added a career-high three assists against Fresno State on March 4th
- Kailee Lammers recorded a career-high and team-high five ground balls at Louisville on Feb. 15th
- Hoch-Bullen notched a career-high four assists against the Ducks on Feb. 21st and a career-high seven goals at Vanderbilt on March 1st
- Junior Mackenzie Wallevand netted her first-career goal against Fresno State on March 4th
- Kayla DeRose posted a career-high two goals against Fresno State on March 4th, one of those assisted by her sister Taylor
GREGG IN GOAL
- Carson Gregg has spent 333 minutes in goal for the Pioneers, tallying 46 saves for a save percentage of .489
- Gregg recorded her 300th career save in the Pioneers win over Fresno State on March 4th
HISTORY
- The Pioneers are a perfect 3-0 against Fairfield, their last win coming in 2019 when Denver flew past the Stags 20-4 in Fairfield
- Denver is 2-0 against Fresno State under head coach Liza Kelly, one of those wins coming at home
