DENVER - The Denver Pioneers women's tennis team is set to open the 2021 season with two matches at the ITA Kick Off in Malibu, Calif. on Jan. 23-24.
The Pioneers are set to open the season against No. 17 USC at 2 p.m. MT on Saturday, Jan. 23. Depending on Saturday's results, Denver will play either No. 5 Pepperdine or Wisconsin on Sunday, Jan. 24 in the championship match at 2 p.m. MT or consolation match at 11 a.m. MT.
The Crimson & Gold went 12-4 (1-0) last season with highlight wins against No. 25 South Carolina and Texas Tech. At the time the season was canceled, the Pioneers were ranked 37
th in the country. Every player from the 2020 roster returns this season. Last week, Denver was picked to finish first in the Summit League preseason coaches' poll,
Hada Chang &
Taylor Melville were ranked 36
th in the country for doubles and Melville was tabbed 117
th among singles players.
Denver has won six straight Summit League regular season and tournament championships.
