DENVER – For the second week in a row, two University of Denver gymnasts earned weekly recognition from the Big 12 Conference, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Senior Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) collected her third-consecutive Big 12 Gymnast of the Week honor while freshman Jessica Hutchinson (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was named the Big 12 co-Newcomer of the Week after winning the award last week as well.
 
Brown led the conference in all-around scoring last week with her 39.775 performance at BYU, which became a new Denver record for top all-around mark at an away meet. She collected at least a share of all five individual titles with four scores of at least 9.900 including a career-high 9.950 on beam. For the third week in a row, she scored a near-perfect 9.975 on floor as well to win her sixth title of the season on the event.
 
Hutchinson had the strongest meet of her DU career after returning to the all-around and posting a personal-best 39.500 on March 11 at BYU. She added two new career highs on events as well, highlighted by a 9.950 on bars to share the event title with Brown. On beam, she scored a 9.850 for another personal best.
 
Together, Brown and Hutchinson contributed all eight of their scores to DU's 197.375 team tally that tied the third-highest road score in program history. On beam, they helped DU achieve a 49.575, the program's third-best score – home or away – and the team's 49.500 on floor is the now the fourth-highest away score in DU history.
 
Brown now owns 10 career weekly awards from the Big 12, which includes eight Gymnast of the Week honors, four of which have come in 2021. She was also named the Big 12 co-Newcomer of the Year in 2018.
 
This is the second Big 12 weekly award of Hutchinson's career.
 
The No. 9-ranked University of Denver gymnastics team, presented by Your Front Range Toyota Stores, begins its postseason at the 2021 Big 12 Championship, hosted by West Virginia, on Saturday, March 20. The meet will be televised live on ESPN2.
