Denver fell 14-7 to Colorado in its 2021 season opener in Boulder, Colo. on Sunday, Feb. 28. The Pioneers allowed six goals in the final 10:00 to let a 8-7 deficit grow to a seven-goal margin as the Buffaloes took the win against DU for the first time since 2017.

DI Series History vs. Arizona State
This marks the first-ever meeting between the Pioneers and Sun Devils. Arizona State added women's lacrosse as a Division I sport in 2015.

  • Senior Eliza Radochonski led the Pioneers with two goals in their season opener vs. Colorado. Freshman Lily Montemarano had a team-leading five shots, scoring her first NCAA goal. Junior Kailee Lammers led Denver defensively with two caused turnovers. Sophomore Sam Thacker and freshman Abby Jenkins had a team-leading three draw controls each. Sophomore Vic Macres was credited for five saves in her NCAA debut

  • Grad student Molly Little, Radochonski and senior Sammie Morton are captains for the 2021 season
  • The Pioneers had a conference-leading six student-athletes named Preseason All-BIG EAST: senior Bea Behrins, senior Quintin Hoch-Bullen, senior Hannah Liddy, Little, Radochonski and senior Caroline Wiseman. Hoch-Bullen was named BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Little was named BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year
  • Little and Hoch-Bullen earned Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honors for the second straight year
  • Liza Kelly has a 180-72 all-time record in her 15th season as DU's head coach
  • Denver was picked 1st in the BIG EAST women's lacrosse preseason coaches' poll
  • The Pioneers outscored opponents 135-69 last season and ranked 5th in the country in caused turnovers per game (12.5). Individually, Sam Thacker led Denver with 13 caused turnovers while Hoch-Bullen led the Pioneers in scoring with 33 goals, 44 points and seven hat tricks
  • Denver had the second-ranked scoring defense in the country en-route to the 2019 BIG EAST regular season title, holding the opposition to 7.3 goals per game. The Pioneers went 16-4 that season and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinal for the first time in program history 
  • Little was invited to a U.S. team tryout for the 2021 Women's World Championship and assistant coach Brittany Read was named to England's training squad for the championship, which ws later postponed
