OMAHA – University of Denver women's soccer junior forward
Natalie Beckman has been named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Beckman was joined by teammates
Sami Feller, Meg Halvorson and
Taylor Parker on the Summit League First Team.
In addition to the first team honorees,
Kaitlyn Glover,
Devan McSwain and
Brittney Lewis were named to the All-Summit League Second Team and
Chaynee Kingsbury was named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Beckman leads the Pioneers with 32 points on 10 goals and 12 assists, including four game-winning tallies. The Denver junior leads the Summit League in game-winning goals (four), shot accuracy (60%), assists (12), goals (10) and points (32). Beckman is currently third in the country in points, 11
th in goals and second in assists.
Feller ranks second in the Summit League in goals and points behind her teammate, and is third in the Summit League in assists. In addition, her shot accuracy ranks second in the conference at 59.5% and she is fourth in the Summit League in game-winning tallies with three.
Halvorson has played and started in all 17 matches, tallying five points in the campaign on two goals and an assist. The Denver winger scored the game-winner against North Dakota State on March 7 and assisted on the final goal in Denver's win over Oral Roberts on February 21.
Parker is third among Denver field players in minutes played with 1390, having played nearly every minute of her 15 starts this season. In her senior campaign, Parker assisted the equalizer against South Dakota on February 26, a match the Pioneers went on to win 2-1, and assisted on the opener in Denver's match at South Dakota State on March 14. Parker has also captained a Denver defense that has limited its opponents to just 46 shots on goal (2.71 per game).
Glover has played in 16 matches, starting 11, seeing just over 1000 minutes of action. She has two goals and three assists this season. Glover had the game-winning assist in the Pioneers win over Omaha on March 26, and scored the game-winner on Sunday at Kansas City.
McSwain is second on the team in minutes played among field players, seeing action in 1403 minutes in her 16 starts this season. Lewis assisted on Denver's game-winning goal against Omaha on March 26 from her defensive midfield position, where she played in 11 matches, starting nine. The duo joined Parker and Glover in the center of the Denver defense that finished the regular season 26
th in the country in goals against average.
