COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. – The University of Denver ski team hosts the annual Denver Invitational this week at Copper Mountain and Keystone Resorts. This year's meet is an alpine-only competition.

Schools officially start competing against one another on Friday at Copper Mountain as the DU Invite begins with another day of GS racing. The race courses at Copper Mountain will be set at the Alpine Tech Center at the East Village. The courses will be held on the Andy's Encore and Ore Deal trails. Spectators are allowed to watch at the bottom of the runs.
After taking a break over the weekend, the Pioneers and the other RMISA schools will wrap up the meet on Monday with the slalom competition at Keystone Resort. The venue is currently scheduled to be held on the Upper Go Devil and Richter runs. Spectators with a lift ticket are allowed to watch, but there is no uphill hiking access allowed to the race venue.
This will be the first collegiate competition for the Pioneers since taking part in the Utah Invitational on Jan. 24-25 at Park City, Utah. As a team, Denver finished fourth overall at the meet. After this meet, the Pios head to the postseason with the RMISA Championships on Feb. 23-26 and NCAA Championships on March 9-12.
The 2022 DU Invite was originally scheduled to be held at Aspen Highlands Ski Area on Feb. 18-20. This year's meet is an alpine-only meet to accommodate the Nordic-only Alaska Fairbanks Nanook Invitational that took place on Feb. 1-2.
Free parking is available at Copper at the nearby Alpine Parking Lot, which is just a short walk or shuttle ride to the race venue at the East Village.
