Denver Heads to California This Weekend for Two-Game Swing

Pioneers open weekend vs. Stanford on Friday at 6 p.m. PT/7 p.m. MT

The University of Denver women's lacrosse team will make the trip to Northern California this weekend for a two-game road series against Pac-12 outfits Stanford and California.  
 
Denver won its season opener 19-9 with a dominating performance over Louisville last Sunday
 
Stanford is coming off a 15-14 win at Albany following a 12-9 loss to No. 3 Syracuse in its season opener.
 
California has dropped its first two matchups at Navy and Virginia by scores of 18-10 and 18-5, respectively. The Golden Bears will take on San Diego State on Friday before hosting Denver on Sunday.
 
Last Time Out
Denver began its 2022 campaign last weekend with a 19-9 win over Louisville. The Pioneers were led by junior Julia Gilbert's six goals, her first career sock trick. Graduate student Bea Behrins added four goals of her own, while Lauren Black netted a hat trick in her first career collegiate game. The win marked the 18th in a row on home turf for Denver.
 
DI Series History vs. Stanford
Denver is 13-18 all-time against the Cardinal but has found a rhythm in the last 10 meetings between the two, winning the last five and going 7-3 overall. Stanford won the first matchup back in 1999 by a score of 12-8.
 
Last Meeting vs. Stanford
DU beat Stanford 15-13 in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament in Evanston, Ill. Eliza Radochonski and Behrins each scored five goals, which tied Quintin Hoch-Bullen's program record for goals in an NCAA Tournament game. Hannah Liddy and Kailey Conry tied Denver's NCAA Tournament single-game assist record with four apiece.
 
DI Series History vs. California
The Pioneers and the Golden Bears first played each other on April 5, 2000, with Cal taking a 18-12 win. Denver has dominated since 2006, winning the last 14 matchups between the two. The Pios hold the edge in the all-time series at 15-10. 
 
Last Meeting vs. California
Denver last made the trip to Berkeley on Feb. 10, 2019 and took home a comfortable 13-4 win. Bea Behrins commanded the field with five goals, while Liddy and Hoch-Bullen each added two of their own. Elizabeth Behrins recorded six ground balls and caused five turnovers.
