Denver Draws No. 8 Pepperdine in NCAA First Round

The Pioneers will begin their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday at 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Denver women's tennis program will open its 11th NCAA Tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. MT when the Pioneers head to Pepperdine for the first round. The winner of the first-round match will take on the winner of USC and San Diego State on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT.

Last weekend, the Pioneers earned 4-0 wins at Omaha and against South Dakota in the Summit League Tournament. Denver's conference title was its 10th in its Division I history and its eighth-straight Summit League crown. The Pioneers wrapped up their ninth-straight regular season title in April.

Series History: Denver is 0-3 all-time at Pepperdine, with two of those three meetings taking place in Malibu. The two programs met in the 2019 ITA Fall Kickoff with the Waves taking a 4-0 win. The Pioneers did take a point off the Waves in the 2017 meeting in Malibu. Friday will mark the first postseason game between the two programs.
