SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Denver women's tennis team will have two representatives in the quarterfinals of the 2023 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Utah, following the second day of play on Thursday.
 
No. 7 seed and graduate student Britt Pursell and No. 8-seeded junior Andrea Burguete Beltran each won their round of 32 and round of 16 matches to secure their quarterfinal spots. Pursell won both of her matches in straight sets while Beltran came back from a set down in the round of 16.
 
Denver's main-draw singles players went undefeated in the round of 32, with both No. 10-seeded sophomore Caroline Driscoll and fellow sophomore Anastasia Simonov won in straight sets before falling in their respective round of 16 matches.
 
In doubles, DU went 3-0 with matching 8-1 victories for the No. 7 seeds Beltran and Pursell, as well as for the sophomore duo of Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Alice Otis. Another sophomore team of Driscoll and Simonov upset the No. 10 seed in a tiebreak.
 
The 2023 ITA Mountain Regional Championships continues on Friday with the doubles round of 16 and the singles quarterfinals, beginning at 9 a.m. MT.
