DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer team swept the TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Peak Performers of the Week for the eighth week of the season, the league announced on Monday.
Graduate student
Kaitlyn Glover and senior
Megan Prazich were named the Offensive and Defensive Peak Performers of the Week, respectively, following DU's wins over South Dakota State and South Dakota on October 5-8.
Glover earned four points across both of Denver's match last week, highlighted by a three-point showing including the game winner against South Dakota on Sunday. The graduate student also had an assist in Denver's win over rival South Dakota State on Thursday.
Following her weekend performance, Glover moved even further into the Denver Division I record book, now tied for the fifth-most game winners and tied for the ninth-most points in program history. Sunday was also her 89
th match played, tying her for fourth-most in DU history.
This is the first weekly award of the season for Glover and the third of her career – earning one in each of the last three seasons.
Prazich continued to help lead Denver's defensive line and shifted her role after graduate student and captain
Hannah Gallegos was injured in the first half of the SDSU match. Afterward, Prazich helped cover the center back role and was essential in helping DU hold South Dakota State to its fewest shots in a League match so far this year. Following the Gallegos injury, Denver also did not allow a goal from the run of play in either match with both USD and SDSU goals coming off corner kicks. She also added a shot on goal in the South Dakota match, her third of the season.
This is the first Summit League award of Prazich's career.
Denver has now won three Summit League weekly awards this season after freshman
Liv Moritz earned the offensive award in Week 4.
DU's sweep of the Week 8 awards is the second sweep this year after North Dakota did so in Week 3 and it is Denver's first sweep since Week 3 of the COVID-delayed 2020 season.
Glover and Prazich will help lead Denver in its final regular-season home match of the year when DU (7-1-5, 4-0-1 Summit) hosts Kansas City (2-4-7, 1-1-2 Summit) on Thursday, October 12, at 7 p.m. MT.
