DU Women’s Tennis’ Beltran/Pursell Fall at ITA Fall Nationals

Denver doubles team faced off against nation’s No. 26 ranked team

Box Score SAN DIEGO, California – The University of Denver women's tennis doubles team of junior Andrea Burguete Beltran and graduate student Britt Pursell dropped their opening match at the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships on Wednesday.
 
Beltran/Pursell drew No. 26-ranked Christina Hand/Justine Leong from Northwestern in the round of 32, falling 6-3 6-2. After giving up a break in the opening game, the Denver duo broke back for 2-2 before trading breaks again in the next two games. The NU team earned a third break and consolidated to take the first set.
 
The second set started on serve until Hand/Leong broke for a 4-2 lead and secured the win with another break in the eighth game.
 
Beltran/Pursell will continue play on Thursday with a consolation match against Celia-Belle Mohr and Anessa Lee from Vanderbilt on Thursday.
