DENVER – The No. 39-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team hosts Montana State on Friday, February 24, at 1 p.m. at Denver Tennis Park.
The match is the second of five-straight home matches for DU.
Last Time Out:
Denver topped now-No. 50 Brown on February 19, dropping the doubles point but winning five-consecutive points in singles. Freshman
Louise Wikander led the way with a straight-sets win and dropping just two games in No. 4 singles. Sophomore
Andrea Burguete Beltran also won in two sets while DU's remaining singles matches went to decisive sets. Among the wins was freshman
Claudia Martinez de Velasco, who was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week after coming back from a set down and winning the final five games to take the third set, 6-1.
Series History:
Montana State holds a narrow 2-1 record against Denver, though the team have not met since 2001. DU won that match, 6-1, on March 2, 2001, in Denver. The other two matches between DU and MSU came at a neutral match in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on February 11, 2000, and a home match for Montana State on February 19, 1999.
