No. 39 DU Women’s Tennis Set for Weekend Triple Header

Denver opens Summit League play with Omaha, St. Thomas; visits Air Force on Sunday

DENVER – The No. 39-ranked University of Denver women's tennis will play three matches in two days including a Sunday double header.

DU begins its busy weekend with its first two Summit League matches of the season, first hosting Omaha on Saturday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. MT.

Denver will play two matches on Sunday, March 5, beginning with a second Summit League match when it hosts St. Thomas at 10 a.m. MT. DU will leave after the match for a trip down I-25 to play at Air Force at 5 p.m. MT.

Last Time Out:
Denver topped Wyoming in its first match of the week on Wednesday. After dropping the doubles point in a tight, decisive tiebreaker on court 2, the Pioneers rebounded by sweeping the singles matches without dropping a set on any court. Three of DU's singles players dropped four or fewer games total: senior Britt Pursell and freshmen Caroline Driscoll and Louise Wikander.

Series History:
Omaha: Denver has won all 10 previous matches against Omaha and has yet to drop a point against the Mavericks. In the teams' two meetings in 2022, Denver posted a 4-0 win at Omaha in the Summit League semifinals on April 22 and a 7-0 win in Denver on February 26.

St. Thomas: This will be just the second all-time meeting between Denver and St. Thomas. DU took the first match, 7-0, on March 5, 2022, in Denver.

Air Force: DU holds an 11-2 record against Air Force and is riding a 10-match win streak – five of which came at the Air Force Academy. Denver posted a 6-1 win over AFA in the last match to be contested at Air Force on February 5, 2021. DU and AFA also faced off in the 2022 fall season with fifth-year student Taylor Melville claiming the Air Force-hosted Bedford Cup singles title before Denver collected five combined wins over Air Force in the Colorado Cup at Denver Tennis Park.

Up Next:
DU continues away competition with five more matches on the road, starting with a trip to the East Coast to face Harvard on March 11 and Boston on March 12.
