DENVER – The No. 46-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team (11-4) will host two matches in two days on April 1-2, both against Summit League opponents.
Denver will first welcome Kansas City to Denver Tennis Park on Saturday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m. MT before hosting South Dakota on Sunday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m. MT.
Sunday's match against USD is the first of a Denver Tennis doubleheader with the DU men's team hosting Drake immediately afterward.
Last Time Out:
Denver traveled to Texas for back-to-back matches at nationally-ranked team, falling 5-2 to then-No. 59 Baylor and 4-1 to then-No. 62 SMU. Freshman
Claudia Martinez de Velasco went undefeated in her singles matches and was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week.
DU was scheduled to play at Western Illinois on March 25, but the match was postponed with no reschedule date yet announced by the Summit League.
Series History:
Kansas City: DU is 3-0 all-time against Kansas City, sweeping the last two matches including most recently on April 9, 2002, at UMKC. The teams last played in Denver during the 2021 Summit League Final where DU won 4-0 to win the league title.
South Dakota: Denver holds a 15-0 record against South Dakota with sweeps in nine of the last 10 matches. The teams met most recently in the 2022 Summit League Final hosted by Omaha with Denver winning, 4-0. USD last traveled to Denver for the 2021 Summit League Semifinals on April 30, 2021, also a 4-0 win for DU.
