WACO, Texas – The University of Denver women's tennis team collected 10 wins in singles and doubles combined on the first day of the H-E-B Invitational, hosted by Baylor, on Friday.
 
DU opened play with doubles against Illinois and split the wins. Denver's teams of graduate student Britt Pursell and junior Andrea Burguete Beltran, and sophomores Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Alice Otis each earned wins, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.
 
Later in the afternoon, Denver took on Nebraska in its second doubles session of the day and went 3-1 with wins again for Beltran/Pursell and Martinez de Velasco/Otis. The sophomore due of Caroline Driscoll and Louise Wikander added their first win of the day as well.
 
In singles against Missouri, Denver added five more wins including in straight sets for Driscoll, Martinez de Velasco and freshman Karsyn Evans.
 
The H-E-B Invitational continues on Saturday when DU takes on Missouri in doubles and Illinois in singles, beginning at 9 a.m. CT/8 a.m. MT.
