No. 27 DU Women’s Tennis Travels to Texas for Duals Against Ranked Teams

Denver to play at No. 40 Baylor on Friday, at No. 37 SMU on Saturday

DENVER – The No. 27-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team (7-2, 0-0 Summit) begins a four-match road trip in Texas where it will face two of its fellow nationally-ranked teams on Friday and Saturday.

DU will first play at No. 40-ranked Baylor on Friday at 12 p.m. CT/11 a.m. MT before traveling to No. 37 SMU on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT.

Last Time Out:
Denver hosted its final home match in February when it welcomed Utah on February 16. DU swept the match, 4-0, giving the Pioneers their fourth consecutive win against a Power-5 opponent and their first sweep since 2021.

Helping lead the way was junior Andrea Burguete Beltran, who topped the then No. 59-ranked singles player in straight sets at No. 1 singles and was then recognized as the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week for the second week in a row.

Series History:
Baylor: This will be just the third meeting between DU and Baylor with the Bears winning the first two matches, both by 5-2 scorelines. Their most recent meeting was also hosted at Baylor on March 21, 2023.

SMU: Denver and SMU have met three times previously with the Mustangs holding a 2-1 lead head-to-head. The teams met last season on March 23 in a 4-1 win for SMU, though DU's first win against SMU also came on the road (4-3 on March 6, 2004).

Up Next:
The University of Denver women's tennis team begins the month of March on the road with its first Summit League dual of the season, playing at St. Thomas on March 2 before visiting Minnesota for another Power-5 match on March 3.
