No. 52 DU Women’s Tennis Set for Summit League Tournament

No. 1 seed Denver takes on No. 4 seed Oral Roberts in semifinals on Friday

DENVER – The No. 52-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team (15-6, 6-0 Summit) holds the No. 1 seed at the 2024 Summit League Tennis Championships and will face No. 4 seed Oral Roberts in the semifinals on Friday, April 19, at 9 a.m. CT/8 a.m. MT in Waukee, Iowa.

Denver won its 10th-consecutive Summit League regular-season title, doing so in every year since joining the League in 2013-14. DU will seek to match the same milestone for Summit League tournament titles this weekend.

Last Time Out:
Denver posted a 7-0 sweep in the regular-season finale against Oral Roberts on April 13, winning all nine contested matches including all three doubles matches. Only one singles match went beyond a second set with sophomore Caroline Driscoll winning a 10-point tiebreak, 10-7.

Junior Andrea Burguete Beltran had the clinching wins in both doubles and singles, each at the No. 1 spot and was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week to close the season.

Denver's History Against the Field:
Oral Roberts: Denver will meet the Golden Eagles for the second time in as many weeks after sweeping ORU, 7-0, in the regular-season finale and is now 11-0 against Oral Roberts. The teams have only met once previously in the Summit League tournament, a 4-0 win for DU in the 2016 semifinals.

South Dakota: DU is now 17-0 against South Dakota after a 6-1 win on March 8 – though USD is the only Summit League team to win the doubles point against Denver this season. This will be their eighth Summit League tournament meeting with the most recent coming in the 2022 championship match (a 4-0 win for DU).

North Dakota: With its 7-0 win on March 30, Denver moved to 6-0 against North Dakota. Only one of the previous six meetings came in the Summit League tournament, the 2023 final that Denver won, 4-0.

Tournament Schedule:
Denver and Oral Roberts play in the first of two semifinal matches on Friday with No. 2 seed South Dakota and No. 3 seed North Dakota meeting in the second semifinal at 12 p.m. CT/11 a.m. MT. The two semifinal winners will meet in the championship match on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT.
