DENVER - The No. 13 Denver Pioneers women's lacrosse team returns to Peter Barton Stadium for a battle against in-state foe No. 20 Colorado.
In their last matchup, the Pioneers defeated the Buffs, 9-8, at Kittredge Field.
SCOUTING THE BUFFS: Colorado is 7-3 on the season and 2-1 in Pac-12 play with its most recent wins coming over Cal and San Diego State. Senior midfielder Madelina Pisani leads the Buffs offensively with 36 goals and 41 points followed by graduate student attacker Eve Hritzuk with 23 goals and six assists. The Buffaloes were selected to finish third in the Pac-12 Preseason poll and return All-Pac-12 selection Ashley Stokes and Pac-12 Tournament Team member Morgan Pence. Goalkeeper Danielle Heintz returns in net for the Buffs with a .366 save percentage and 11.141 goals against average.
THE LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers earned a come-from-behind win against Georgetown on Friday afternoon.
Julia Gilbert earned her seventh hat trick of the season with four goals and goalkeeper
Emelia Bohi made six saves for the Pios.
TEWAARATON WATCH LIST: The Pioneers have five players on the watch list for the 2024 Tewaaraton Award, given to the top collegiate player in the country. Attackers Julia GIlbert and
Jane Earley and defenders
Trinity McPherson, and Sam Thacker were all named to the initial watch list, with senior defender
Anna Palmisano being added to the list midseason.
