DENVER - The No. 12/13 Denver Pioneers women's lacrosse team resumes Big East Conference play against the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Peter Barton Stadium.
In their last matchup, the Pioneers defeated the Golden Eagles, 12-5, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.Â
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Marquette is 5-8 on the season, with its most recent win coming 20-12 over Butler University on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles are led offensively by junior attacker Meg Bireley who is third in the nation with 52 goals this season, averaging 4 goals per game. Junior midfielder Josie Kropp leads the Big East with 8.54 draw controls per game. Goalkeeper Bryanna Nixon owns a .352 save percentage and 14.58 goals against average.
THE LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers defeated in-state rival [22] Colorado, 14-8, on Wednesday night at Peter Barton LS.
Julia Gilbert earned her eighth hat trick of the season with four goals and two assists. Goalkeeper
Emelia Bohi made nine saves between the pipes.Â
