WHO: No. 6 Denver at NCAA Regional Final
WHAT: DU seeks one of two NCAA National Championships berths

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver rallied from a fourth-place standing after the first rotation to win the first session of Friday's NCAA Regional Second Round. DU was more than five tenths out of first place after rotation one, rose to third after the second rotation and finished atop the team standings with a 197.275 at the end of the meet. DU finished ahead of No. 22-ranked Arizona State (197.150), No. 9-ranked UCLA (197.050) and Washington (196.650) to secure its spot in Sunday's NCAA Regional Final.

EYE ON THE RANKINGS:
DU moved up two spots to No. 6 in the country following the Big 12 Championship. It is the second-highest ranking Denver has held entering NCAA Regionals, behind only 2019's No. 5 ranking.

The team finished the year with top-15 rankings on all four events for the first time since 2019 as well, led by a No. 5 ranking on bars and top-10 finishes on vault and beam.

Jessica Hutchinson ended with top-eight national rankings in the all-around, and on vault, beam and floor – highlighted by her No. 4 final ranking in the all-around. Freshman
Madison Ulrich finished ranked No. 22 in the all-around while senior
Rylie Mundell is tied for No. 22 in the final bars rankings.

QUICK HITS:
- Denver hit some of the highest NCAA Regionals scores in program history during Friday's NCAA Regional Second Round including its 197.275 overall (tied for the fourth-highest).
- The team score also tied the sixth-highest postseason score in DU history.
- DU's 49.575 on floor is now the second-highest in school history at an NCAA Regionals meet while its 49.425 on beam tied the program's fourth-highest at NCAA Regionals.
- Seniors Hutchinson and Bella Mabanta each won NCAA Regional titles by way of their tie for first on beam (9.950) and Hutchinson's tie for first on floor (9.950) after results from both of Friday's sessions were combined.
- DU is seeking a seventh team berth to the NCAA National Championships – and its first in back-to-back years since 2007 and 2008.
NCAA REGIONALS FORMAT:
NCAA Regionals is hosted at four campus sites across the country with each site holding four meets across four days. Nine teams and multiple individual qualifiers compete at each site, all seeking berths to the NCAA National Championships.

The two lowest-ranked teams at each site compete in the NCAA Regional First Round with the winner advancing to the NCAA Regional Second Round. The top two teams in each session of the NCAA Regional Second Round advance to the NCAA Regional Final where two team berths to the NCAA National Championships are on the line.

Individual qualification for NCAA Nationals is also determined by competition in the NCAA Regional Second Round.

SCOUTING THE BEARS:
Denver and California last met at the 2023 NCAA National Semifinals where Cal placed third and Denver finished fourth in their semifinal. DU's last time competing against Cal in Berkeley was January 25, 2015, in a quad meet that Cal won and DU placed second. This will be the fourth time that the teams have met in NCAA competition and the first NCAA Regionals meeting since 2017 Fayetteville where DU was second and Cal was fifth.

Four Bears earned regular-season All-America honors in Mya Lauzon, eMjae Frazier, Maddie Williams and Gabby Perea.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL:
Denver and Stanford met during the regular season in a January 21 quad meet at DU with Denver placing second and Stanford finishing fourth. Seven times, they have met in NCAA competition, most recently the 2011 Champaign Regional where the Cardinal placed second and DU was fourth.

Chloe Widner was named a first-team regular-season All-American on beam and led the all-around standings after Friday's NCAA Regional Second Round.

SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS:
DU and Arizona State also met in Denver during the regular season, doing so in DU's home opener on January 14 in a 196.900-196.375 win for Denver. This will be their sixth postseason meeting. Entering the weekend, the last time the teams met in an NCAA competition was the 2006 Ames Regional where ASU finished in first and Denver placed fourth.

ASU is led by all-arounders Jada Mangahas and Hannah Scharf. Anaya Smith narrowly missed a regular-season All-America nod on vault, finishing No. 18 nationally.
