COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Denver women's tennis team filled all but one of the four Alpha Draw singles semifinal slots and added a fourth student-athlete in the Bravo Draw semifinals after the first day of the Bedford Cup in the Mountains at the Air Force Academy on Friday.
 
Senior and top overall seed Andrea Burguete Beltran will play junior Louise Wikander for a spot in the Alpha Draw final in Saturday's semifinals. In the bottom half of the Alpha Draw, junior Claudia Martinez de Velasco also advanced to the semis, giving an opportunity for an all-Denver final should she win.
 
Junior Marley Lambert became the fourth Pioneer to make the semifinals, doing so in the Bravo Draw.
 
In their first matches for DU, junior Hana Bečirovič Novak and freshman Natálie Cinková fell in three sets in their respective round of 16 matches but followed them up with wins in consolation matches.
 
Denver's doubles teams split results in the round of 16. In the Blue Draw, top overall seed Burguete Beltran/Wikander advanced to the quarterfinals while Lambert/Martinez de Velasco fell in their match. In the Red Draw, No. 4-seeded Bečirovič Novak/Cinková booked a spot in the quarterfinals.
 
The Bedford Cup continues on Saturday with singles semifinals, and doubles quarterfinals and semifinals. Matches are set to begin at 9:15 a.m. MT.
