COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Denver women's tennis team is guaranteed at least one singles title and has a chance for three more wins following the second day of play at the Bedford Cup in the Mountains, hosted by the Air Force Academy, on Saturday.
 
Senior and No. 1-seed Andrea Burguete Beltran and junior Claudia Martinez de Velasco will battle for the Alpha Draw singles title, guaranteeing a win for the Pioneers in the top singles championship. Burguete Beltran defeated teammate, junior Louise Wikander in an all-Denver semifinal in straight sets while Martinez de Velasco followed up a first-set tiebreak win with a 6-1 second set in her semifinal.
 
In the Bravo Draw, junior Marley Lambert became the third Pioneer to earn a spot in a single final, winning her semifinal match in straight sets.
 
Wikander will have another chance for a top-three finish when she plays in the third-place match on Sunday.
 
Both doubles draws will feature a DU team in their finals as well, starting with top-seeded Burguete Beltran/Wikander in the Blue Draw following matching 8-3 wins in their quarter- and semifinal matches. In the Red Draw, junior Hana Bečirovič Novak and freshman Natálie Cinková made their way into the final with wins of 8-6 and 8-5.
 
In consolation matches, Bečirovič Novak dropped just four games in her singles match while Cinková came up short in hers. DU's doubles team of Lambert/Martinez de Velasco split results on Saturday including logging a win over the draw's No. 3 seed.
 
The Bedford Cup concludes with the singles and doubles finals on Sunday, September 15, with play beginning at 9:45 a.m. MT.
