DU’s Burguete Beltran Drops Second Match at ITA All-Americans

Denver senior falls in pre-qualifying round of 64 on Sunday

Box Score CARY, N.C. – University of Denver senior and women's tennis player Andrea Burguete Beltran came up short in her round of 64 match at the 2024 ITA All-American Championships pre-qualifying draw on Sunday.

Burguete Beltran fell to USC'S Imogen Haddad in straight sets, 6-1 6-4, to end her run at the fall tournament.

Similarly to her round of 128 match on Saturday, Burguete Beltran came out strong to begin the second set after dropping the first, holding at love in the set's opening game. Both players found themselves deep into their opponents' service games for much of the set, and Burguete Beltran earned the first break for a 4-2 lead.

Haddad broke back in the following game by winning the deuce point on Burguete Beltran's serve. The player from USC then took a break lead at 5-4 and served out the match.

Burguete Beltran will return to Denver where the Pioneers are preparing for their next fall tournament, traveling to the University of Washington for the Husky Invite on October 4-6.
