DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team will begin its 2025 dual season with on in-state trip to Colorado on Sunday, January 19.
Play is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. MT.
Season Preview:
Denver was once again picked to defend its Summit League title in the 2025 Summit League Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches. DU won its 10
th consecutive Summit League title in 2024 and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the 13
th time in program history.
Three of DU's student-athletes from 2024 are back this season in reigning Summit League Player of the Year, senior
Andrea Burguete Beltran, and All-Summit League Team members, juniors
Claudia Martinez de Velasco and
Louise Wikander. Burguete Beltran enters 2025 with a No. 93 national singles ranking, and all three hold ITA doubles rankings as well.
Five newcomers join the DU roster in 2025, starting with junior transfers
Hana Becirovic Novak (formerly of Long Beach State) and
Marley Lambert (formerly of Michigan State). Denver also welcomes three first-year students in
Natalie Cinkova,
Natali Jaiani and
Remy Nguyen.
2024 RECAP:
DU captured its 10
th straight Summit League title to book its spot in the NCAA tournament as a No. 3 regional seed. Denver played then-No. 25-ranked Texas Tech in the opening round but fell, 1-4, to the Red Raiders.
Denver began the 2024-25 academic year with a great fall season that saw Burguete Beltran advance to the NCAA Division I Women's Singles Championship for the first time in her career and win her opening match in straight sets over then-No. 31 Oyinlomo Quadre from FIU, becoming the fourth DU women's player to win an NCAA singles match.
Newcomer Lambert and Burguete Beltran were a win away from advancing to the NCAA tournament in doubles after appearing in the ITA Mountain Regional final but coming up short in a three-set battle.
Series History:
Denver leads the head-to-head against Colorado, 14-9, and won their most recent meeting, 6-1, at home on January 29, 2023. The last time DU made the trip to Boulder was April 6, 2022, in a 4-0 win for Colorado. Last season was the first in 17 years that DU and CU did not play each other.

The University of Denver women's tennis team heads to the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend in College Station, Texas, as a No. 3 seed and will begin play against No. 2 seed TCU on Friday, January 24.
