DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team will close out January at the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend, hosted by Texas A&M, on January 24-25.
The site's No. 3 seed, DU will first place No. 2 seed TCU on Friday, January 24. Denver will then play either No. 1 seed and defending NCAA champion Texas A&M or No. 4 seed South Florida on Saturday, January 25. Due to anticipated weather conditions, all matches have been moved to 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT start times, as of January 23. Live streaming and scoring may not be available for all matches.
LAST TIME OUT:
Denver opened the 2025 season with an in-state battle at Colorado on January 19, falling to the Buffs, 2-5. DU juniors
Claudia Martinez de Velasco and
Louise Wikander captured a 6-2 win in doubles, though CU earned the point with 6-4 wins in the other two doubles matches.
In singles, both senior
Andrea Burguete Beltran and junior
Hana Bečirovič Novak secured comeback victories in 10-point tiebreaks. Both players rallied after dropping their opening sets before forcing a decider. Burguete Beltran dominated the tiebreak, 10-1, while Bečirovič Novak came back from a minibreak down at the changeover to win it, 10-7.
Series History:
TCU: This will be the first meeting between Denver and Texas Christian.
Texas A&M: Denver is 0-2 against Texas A&M but has not played the Aggies since the first round of the 2016 NCAA tournament. The only other time the teams have met in the regular season was a tight 4-3 win for Texas A&M at home on January 25, 2009.
South Florida: Denver holds a 1-2 record against USF, logging a 4-0 sweep in their most recent meeting, also at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in 2020 at Stanford. Prior to that, the teams last played in 2012 and 2007, both wins at home for South Florida.

The University of Denver women's tennis team continues its seven-match road trip to begin the 2025 season with a trip back to the state of Texas. DU will face Nebraska in a neutral-site match on Saturday, February 1, before playing at host Baylor on Sunday, February 2.
