Gregory Turns in NCAA Zone Cut on 3M to Lead Denver on Night One

Pioneers close out opening night of 2025 Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs wrapped up the opening day of the 2025 Minnesota Invite on Thursday night at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center.
 
Denver opened night one with a seventh-place finish in the women's 200 free relay as the quartet of Julia Saxman, Ali Beay, Angie Wyand and Tenaya Winter combined for a time of 1:32.20. DU's men finished eighth when Hamish McClellan, Luke Milburn, Tommy Hancock and Matija Pantic turned in a time of 1:20.42.
 
In the first individual event of the night, Sabrina Rachjaibun improved two places and dropped 3.57 seconds off her prelim time in the 500 free, taking 12th with a 4:50.03. Paige Reilly also dropped a big chunk of time off her prelims, taking 15th with a 4:54.77.
 
Dylan Mes represented the Denver men in the 500 free scoring finals on Thursday night, taking 15th with a 4:27.89.
 
In the women's 200 IM, Samantha Synsvoll finished 13th with a 2:01.87, dropping 2.33 seconds off her prelim time. Isa Cardenas took 16th in 2:03.40.
 
To the men's race, Gabe Jones finished 12th in the 200 IM, moving up two spots from his prelims finish with a time of 1:48.59. Nico Morton took 13th with a 1:49.68.
 
After her eighth-best time in program history on Thursday morning, Julia Saxman finished 15th with a time of 23.08 in the 50 free.
 
The swimming portion of the meet's opening day wrapped up with the 400 medley relays. Denver's women's group of Beay, Winter, Saxman and Angie Wyand clocked in at 3:41.89 to finish 10th, while the Denver men took fifth with a 3:11.51 turned in by Quinn Collins, Kito Campbell, McLellan and Pantic.
 
In the diving finals on Thursday, Trip Gregory finished fifth with a score of 321.35, an NCAA Zone Cut.
