McLellan’s 100 Fly School Record Highlights Morning Two in Minnesota

Hamish McLellan’s school record was one of four Denver swims that cracked Denver’s top-10 times in program history on Friday morning

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs continued the Minnesota Invite with the second prelims session of the week on Friday morning at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center.

Sophomore Hamish McLellan broke a school record that was co-held by Kyle Robrock (2017/47.04) and Neil Wachtler (2020) when he turned in a 46.92 in the men's 100 fly on Friday to qualify eighth in the loaded Minnesota Invite.

After recording the eighth-fastest 50 free time yesterday, Julia Saxman put her name in the top-10 times in program history in the third difference event of her freshman season, turning in the eighth-fastest 100 fly time with her 53.76 to qualify ninth.

First-year Pioneer and junior Kito Campbell was just shy of another Denver school record in the 100 breast, clocking in at 52.91 for the second-fastest time in program history, just 0.59 seconds behind Adriel Sanes school record set in 2020.

Senior captain Ali Beay moved up a spot in the 100 back top-10, climbing to seventh with her personal-best time of 54.27, 0.39 seconds ahead of her previous best mark set earlier in this calendar year.

In total, Denver qualified 19 swims into tonight's A and B Finals.

Dakotah Parker led the Pioneer men on the 1-meter board with a 301.10 to take fifth. Parker's score was good enough for his first NCAA Cut on the one-meter board this season. Trip Gregory took eighth with a 272.15. Colin Breuer took 10th with a 258.65. The women were on the 3-meter board on Friday. Savanna Berry took 19th with a 238.00.
