Saxman’s 50 Free Swim-Off Puts Freshman in DU Record Book

Wisconsin native Julia Saxman swam the eighth-fastest time in program history to win a swim off to qualify for tonight’s finals session at the Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs opened the Minnesota Invite with the first of six swimming sessions this week on Thursday morning at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center.

Freshman Julia Saxman turned in a time of 22.96 to tie for 16th in the women's 50 free on Thursday, sending her to a swim-off to book a spot in tonight's B-Final. Saxman not only won the swim-off, but went 0.15 seconds faster, turning in a 22.81, the eighth-best time in program history. Earlier this fall, Saxman turned in the sixth-fastest time in program history in the 200 fly (2:00.44).

Saxman is one of seven swims to qualify for Thursday night's individual swimming scoring finals in a loaded field in Minneapolis.
