Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team used a 19-9 advantage in the draw circle in a 19-9 win over San Diego State on Sunday afternoon at Aztec Field in California.
Olivia Ripple opened the scoring for the Pioneers, followed by goals from
Lauren Black and
Raegan Wilson to give Denver a quick 3-0 lead over the Aztecs. San Diego State responded with a goal of their own but Denver tacked on another pair of goals by Ripple and
Ryan Dineen to hold a 5-2 advantage after the first frame. The DU offense continued to find its stride with goals from
Caroline Bowers, Black,
Eva Thomsen-Marr, and Wilson to take a 10-5 advantage into halftime.Â
The Pioneers picked up right where they left off in the second half tacking on four more goals in the third quarter. SDSU scored back to back goals in the final frame of play, but were no match for the Denver offensive firepower. DU outshot the Aztecs, 42-25, with 31 of the shots falling on target.Â
KEY PERFORMANCES:
Black led the way for Denver with her third consecutive game scoring at least three goals and added on two assists and four ground balls. Wilson recorded her first hat trick of the season, alongside two helpers and a trio of ground balls. Ripple,
Caroline Keil, Bowers, Thomsen-Marr and
Caroline Colimore each tacked on a pair of goals as well.Â

Alex Dorr had a career-high day in the circle, earning 14 draw wins, the fourth-most by a Pioneer in a single game.
Defensively,
Sarah Pokorny led the effort with a pair of caused turnovers.Â
Carly Frohnapfel,
Landry Grover and
Megan Klingenberg each picked up a pair of ground balls.
Emelia Bohi recorded 5 saves between the pipes, while
Lexi Gwaku and
Skyler Constantino each tacked on a trio of saves.Â
