Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ken. - The [15] University of Denver women's lacrosse team opened the 2025 campaign with a 10-8 loss to Louisville on Friday afternoon in Kentucky.
Denver opened the scoring with the first of four goals by sophomore attacker
Olivia Ripple. Louisville was quick to respond with five unanswered goals in the first quarter of play. The Pioneers notched two more goals in second quarter and held the Cards scoreless to take a 5-3 deficit into halftime.
The Cardinals capitalized on several Denver turnovers in the third quarter to extend their lead to 9-4.
DU took the momentum back in the fourth quarter, out-shooting Louisville 14-3 with goals by
Caroline Colimore,
Kyra Obert and
Lauren Black, cutting the deficit to two goals. The Pioneers comeback effort was thwarted by a late red-card on
Lindsey Wilmot, and ultimately fell to the Cards.
KEY PERFORMANCES:
- Sophomore attacker Olivia Ripple recorded a career-high five points on four goals and an assist.
- Graduate midfielder Maddie Montgomery had a strong showing in her Pioneer debut with a pair of ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
- Caroline Colimore led the effort in the draw circle with seven draw victories alongside three ground balls.
UP NEXT: The Pioneers will take on Ohio State on Sunday at 10 a.m. MT in Columbus, Ohio.
