DENVER - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team is set to take on the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in its regular season finale at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. MT.
The Pioneers own a 12-0 all-time record against the Wildcats. In the most recent meeting between the two programs, Denver defeated Villanova in the Big East Tournament semifinal, 19-7, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
2025 CAPTAINS
- The Pioneers selected redshirt senior Raegan Wilson and seniors Lauren Black and Caroline Colimore as captains for the 2025 season.
- Wilson missed the part of the 2024 season due to injury but appeared in 14 games for the Pioneers.
- Black was third on the Pioneers, recording 59 points on 38 goals and 21 assists. The New Westminster, British Columbia native was an All-Big East First team selection a year ago as well as the 2022 Big East Freshman of the Year. She also bring international experience to the Pioneers, having played for Team Canada last summer.
- Colimore started in all 20 games for the Pioneers last season and was third on the squad with 30 goals and six assists. The midfielder recorded 10 multi-goal games and a career-high four goals in the Big East title game against Connecticut. The Maryland native was a 2024 All-Big East First team selection.
A BALANCED OFFENSE
- VanThof joined the Pioneers as Associate Head Coach and Offensive and Recruiting Coordinator this offseason.
- The Pioneers have eight different attackers with 10 or more goals this season.
- Lauren Black leads the offense with 66 points on 47 goals and 19 assists, alongside Raegan Wilson with 24 goals and 28 assists and Olivia Ripple adding 49 goals and 12 assists.
- DU has tallied seven or more goal scorers on ten occasions this season.
HOT PINK" DEFENSE
- Denver ranks 18th in scoring defense, allowing an average ot 9.69 goals per game, good for first in the Big East.
- DU leads the conference and is 10th nationally with 11.06 caused turnovers per game. • Denver has forced 7+ caused turnovers in all but three games over the last four seasons.
- Senior Sarah Pokorny leads the Big East and is 21st in the nation, averaging 1.94 caused turnovers per game.
DORR LEADS THE DRAW
- Redshirt freshman leads the Pioneers in the draw circle with 114 draw wins so far this season, good for second-most by a Pioneer in a single season and the most recorded by a freshman in program history.
- The Florida native averages 7.13 wins per game, good for third in the Big East and 23rd nationally.
- The Pioneers have a 0.568 draw win percentage with 15.13 wins per game.
- Alongside Dorr, Caroline Colimore has recorded 34 draw wins, Raegan Wilson has 30 and Sarah Pokorny tacked on 20.
