Pioneers Look to Carry Momentum into Weekend

The No. 33 Denver Pioneers women's tennis team (7-2, 0-0) looks to carry the momentum from a three-match winning streak into a weekend in Salt Lake City where the squad will take on BYU on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Utah on Sunday, Feb. 23.

Denver garnered national recognition in the Oracle/ITA Rankings on Feb. 18 after upsets of No. 25 South Carolina and previously ranked Texas Tech last weekend. The Pioneers are led by No. 103 Taylor Melville, who is 6-2 at #1 singles and 6-3 at #1 doubles with partner Hada Chang. Tatum Burger leads Denver in singles victories with a 7-2 mark, while Melville and Britt Pursell round out the Pioneers with six or more singles wins. In doubles play, Melville/Chang are 6-3 at #1 and Burger/Toni Nelson are 6-3, 4-3 at #2 and 2-0 at #3.

First serve is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
