DU seeks singles, doubles qualification to NCAA National Championships
DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team continues its fall season at the 2024 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by New Mexico State on October 17-22.
Six DU players are entered into both the singles and doubles draws. Senior Andrea Burguete Beltran and juniors Hana Bečirovič Novak, Marley Lambert, Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Louise Wikander are all in the singles main draw while freshman Natálie Cinková will start in the singles qualifying draw.
All three DU doubles teams – Burguete Beltran/Lambert, Martinez de Velasco/Wikander and Bečirovič Novak/Cinková – are in the doubles main draw.
On the line are individual berths to the NCAA National Championships, automatically given to the two singles finalists and the doubles champion. As part of a two-year pilot program, the NCAA singles and doubles national champions will be determined in the fall rather than the spring.
Joining Denver in the Mountain Regional are Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, UNLV, Utah, Utah State, Utah Tech, UTEP, Weber State and Wyoming.

Draws are expected to be announced on Wednesday, October 16.
Singles matches will be best-of-three sets with a full third set played. Doubles matches will be one tiebreak set played to 8, though the semifinals and final will be played as two sets with a match tiebreak in place of a third set, if necessary.
Consolation matches will also be held throughout the week with singles matches played with a 10-point tiebreak in place of the third set, if necessary.
The Pioneers next return home to Denver to host the Colorado Cup on November 8-10 at Denver Tennis Park.
