Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team overcame a four-goal deficit to defeat the Georgetown Hoyas, 11-10, on Friday afternoon in Washington D.C.
The Pioneers held the Hoyas scoreless in the final quarter paired with a 5-0 run led by
Julia Gilbert to overcome a 10-6 deficit. Gilbert led the offensive effort for the Pios with 4 goals and an assist,
Lauren Black and
Ryan Dineen each contributed a pair of goals in the victory.Â
Denver struck first with a pair of goals early in the first quarter, but Georgetown answered with a 5-0 run, holding the Pioneers scoreless for nearly 20 minutes of play. The Pios and Hoyas battled back and forth in the second but Georgetown took a two-goal lead into the locker room at halftime.
Georgetown picked up another pair of goals before Dineen was able to respond off a pass from Black to cut the lead to 6-9. Black earned the game winning goal for Denver off a midfield pass from
Megan Klingenberg, battling through the Hoyas defensive line to bury one behind the stick of goalkeeper Leah Warehime to put Denver ahead 11-10.
The hot pink Denver defense held Georgetown scoreless in the final frame to aid the offensive comeback.

Bryn McCaughey earned a pair of caused turnovers and Thacker led the Pios in the circle with four draw control wins.Â
The Hoyas were led offensively by Gracie Driggs trio of goals. Warehime made eight saves.
Denver moves to 7-3 on the season.
