DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team closed out the Colorado Cup at Denver Tennis Park with a hard-fought win in its hidden dual against Air Force on Sunday.
 
After DU won two of the three doubles matches – including a tiebreak victory from sophomore Theo Coats and freshman Tom Noltorp – the battle for singles saw all six matches go to third sets.
 
Denver earned wins in five of six three-set fights with Noltorp and freshman Samuel Rovai rallying after dropping their opening sets. Freshman Aaron Beduhn closed his match with a bagel in the final frame while the Pioneers' final two wins came down to third-set tiebreaks. Graduate student Connor Robb-Wilcox claimed his first set easily, 6-1, and came through with a strong 7-2 performance in the breaker to complete the win.
 
For the second day in a row, the day came down to a three-set fight with Coats coming out on top. After splitting the first two sets and finding himself down 2-5 in the third, he rallied back to get to a tiebreaker and won in it in dominant fashion, 7-1.
 
Both freshmen pulled double duty for the second time on the weekend as well, playing in the day's first dual as well. In doubles, they came up just short in a tiebreak. Beduhn lost only four games in his first singles win of the day, but Noltorp fell in three sets against Montana State.
 
The University of Denver men's tennis team completes its 2025 fall schedule at the LMU Invitational, hosted by Loyola Marymount, on November 7-9.
