DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer program took home three major awards and had eight student-athletes named to the 2022 All-League teams, the Summit League announced on Wednesday.
Denver captain Ben Smith was named the Summit League Midfielder of the Year, while Ronan Wynne earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and goalkeeper Isaac Nehme earned Newcomer of the Year accolades.
The Pioneers put four student-athletes on the 2022 Summit League First Team. Smith and Wynne were joined by the centerback pairing of Jason Belloli and Trevor Wright on the league's first team.
Midfielder Sam Bassett, forward Ian Smith, outside back Jake Mecham and Nehme earned spots on the Summit League Second Team, while Aidan O'Toole and freshman Holger Olsson were voted to the honorable mention list.
Nehme, Ian Smith and Jake Smith were named to the 2022 All-Newcomer Team.
