[RV/RV] Denver Welcomes Omaha Wednesday Night

The Pioneers enter only two-match week of Summit League play with visit from rival Mavericks

DENVER – The [RV/RV] University of Denver men's soccer team returns to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Wednesday night for a match with Omaha. Kickoff on the Summit League Network is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Last Time Out:
Bryce Willougby turned Western Illinois over in the press and buried his second career goal to take the Pioneers past the Leathernecks 1-0 last Saturday afternoon in Macomb, Illinois.   

The Series:
Denver leads the series 10-2-2, having won six of the last seven between the two programs. The Pios are 8-1-0 at home against the Mavericks with the only Omaha win coming on Halloween Eve in 2021.

O'Toole's Experience:

Graduate student Aidan O'Toole played in his 80th career match on Saturday afternoon, joining 2017 alum Alex Underwood for sixth on Denver's Division I list. With an appearance on Wednesday, O'Toole will tie Destan Norman for the fifth-most appearances. Four former Pioneers have played in 83 career games, Denver's Division I record.

The Franks Foundation:
Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks is 104-35-27 as a head coach at Denver, 139-52-35 in his 12 years overall with the Pioneers and 238-79-52 in his time as a player and a coach in college soccer. Franks became the second coach in program history to reach 100 career wins on Friday night, doing so in 158 career matches. 

Top-10 Program in Franks' Tenure:
Since Franks took over at the start of the 2015 season, the Pioneers have 104 wins, sitting 10th in the country in that category heading into this weekend's matches. Of the 12 teams in the country that started the year with at least 95 wins, Denver has the sixth-fewest losses at 34.

Up Next:
Denver will stay at home this weekend and welcome St. Thomas to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Kickoff on Saturday night is set for 7 p.m. MT. In the first meeting between the two teams this season, the Pioneers earned a 2-0 win in St. Paul.
