Denver Heads to Morgantown for First Meeting with WVU

The Pioneers look for their first road result of the season in their only trip to the east coast in 2026
DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer program will close out a stretch of five of six matches on the road on Friday night when the Pioneers travel to West Virginia. Opening kickoff on ESPN+ is set for 7 p.m. ET/5 p.m. MT.
LAST TIME OUT:
Will King cut a 2-0 second-half deficit in half, but it was sixth-ranked Indiana that got the next goal in a 3-1 Hoosiers win over the Pioneers on Monday night in Bloomington.
SERIES HISTORY:
Friday marks the first meeting between the two programs.

- Denver is 137-50-37 since the start of the 2015 season.
- That record is good for eighth in the country in wins during that span, behind Wake Forest (162), Indiana (158), Clemson (153), Georgetown (151), Stanford (146), Washington (139) and Vermont (138).

- Career Points: Fifth-year forward Bryce Willoughby is tied with Karsten Hanlin for 11th in the program's DI history in career points with 43 (16-11). Kyle McGowan is 20th with 33 points (14-5).
- Career Goals: Bryce Willoughby became the 10th player in the program's DI history to reach 15 career goals when he scored the opener at Stanford on August 23. Willoughby added his 16th career goal in Denver's 3-0 win over Tulsa on Sept. 4. Kyle McGowan is in a tie for 11th in the program's DI history with 14 career goals.
- Career Game-Winners: Bryce Willoughby has seven career game-winning goals, tied for the fifth most in the program's DI era.

Denver will have a 10 day layoff before returning home for its non-conference finale against Creighton. The September 22 home match is set for 6 p.m. MT, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
